Key Points
Knauf Insulation is the only UK manufacturer of Glass, Rock and Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) insulation products.
The Company required additional capacity to manufacture fibre glass insulation at the St Helen’s facility and commissioned ATG to provide the installation and testing of all power, control and network cables and containment systems for the fiberising and forming equipment in the new building.
In addition, Knauf Insulation required the electrical control system to be upgraded to Siemens SIMATIC S7-300, as the parts for the existing system were becoming more expensive and difficult to obtain. The upgrade included the necessary panel modifications and the implementation of new SCADA screens, during a very limited shutdown period.
